The AP Latin course is a rigorous study of Latin language, literature, history and culture centered around Caesar’s Gallic War and Vergil’s Aeneid.
The major themes of the course are: Literary Genre and Style, Roman Values, War and Empire, Leadership, Views of Non-Romans, History and Memory, and Human Beings and the Gods.
Through in-depth translation and analysis of Latin texts, students will hone their grammar skills, accurately translate Latin prose and poetry, understand the literary features of each, and relate the texts to their historical and cultural settings.
